oh, you simply come up with the most wonderful ideas.

cyrlan is wary, perhaps bordering on afraid (like he is of many things, unsurprisingly) of both him and his mother, perhaps simply because he does not know so much. he drank from the well of sorrows for the main reason that he did not trust morrigan enough and reconciles to dealing with being bound to an unknown being, thinking it better than having her run around even stronger and wreaking whatever havoc she wishes upon the world (or whatever the case, but he assumes the worst). the 'bizarre family reunion' he witnesses shortly after helps little in alleviating such fears, because well notwithstanding, there's just so much he does not understand. kieran and his mother seem to have a tendency to sweep past and instantaneously give off the impression that they know so much more and that both terrifies and awes this blond dalish elf who feels very much out of his depth.

an exchange, one he does not full comprehend, but one he will nonetheless try his best to honour, for knowledge is what he currently seeks. cyrlan sincerely does not doubt kieran's prowess on the matter and will eagerly listen to just about anything he has to say because even after the entire 'drinking from the well' incident, solas comes along and once more throws his thoughts into chaos. needless to say, he seems to be in a state of perpetual confusion and will gladly accept anything remotely useful that comes his way. especially from kieran who he assumes to be more free than he is. after all, he is not only cyrlan but the inquisitor whether he likes it or not, bound by duty and by his people, then yet another hand upon this leash is that of mythal (and this is without considering how his actions as such a public figure may affect or influence those of mages, elves and the like).

but i do not doubt that cyrlan would jump at such an offer if trust is built up. well, perhaps not jump, but he would take it into consideration and lean very, very heavily in favour of. yet strain as much as he might on that leash, the confines of duty are inescapable and i would like very much to torture him once more of wanting to help and not being able to (as if the miserable egg didn't do enough to wreck him i trusted you i thought we were friends damnit). or there's also the slim chance of him dramatically breaking away from the inquisition to help which would mean we have to deal with stuff possibly addressed in da4 and idfk how we're handling that omg

honestly though, cyrlan seeing kieran again and just "oh look it's solas but with hair well shit"

cyrlan & Elyssa Cousland

Sounds like a great idea! Cyrlan already has a tendency to adopt strays, he can hardly turn away someone seeking aid. They'd simply be living at Skyhold and not members of the inquisition itself, but he probably dotes on them all the more. Children and mabari, what's not to like? Though he might prefer the latter.

Now about them meeting up, why not add some action? Cyrlan could be told that she is arriving and personally goes to meet her without expecting much but gets startled when she addresses him in elven. Also, we could also, ah, startle her by having an ambush along the way and he jumps in the way to dispatch them except this time he doesn't die but hey if drawing parallels causes pain I'm all for it.

So add/subtract as you like ahaha but in general I'd love to have them stay at skyhold!

Brayton Trevelyan

i think she's absolutely adorable! skyhold is always in need of more positive vibes, and cyr goes through his fair share of ups and downs as part of the job, so he'd definitely appreciate how upbeat he is. on good days, they can probably go around handing out cookies and tiny cakes (and cheese, who knows) to their lovely hardworking soldiers, or go pull fun pranks on unsuspecting visitors. he'd definitely be willing to share about the dalish; mutual understanding sets them on the path of peace, after all. in exchange, brayton can tell him about all things chantry and human because he has no idea what these people are talking about.

i'm also all for mage nerds to spend forever chattering about magic-y things and driving everyone up the wall - think of cool magic combos they could pull in combat! i can't think of too much regarding his old arm right now, but maybe they could have developed a co-dependency throughout the events of da:i and remain good friends up till now? carry that over to battle styles and we've got a hella rad mage squad.

small idea, that will probably require someone to play cullen further down the line: training sessions between mages and templars to further relations, since tensions have (as expected) not fully dissipated. i'm sure cyr would love her to come along and help, if you want her to that is. add/subtract ideas and let me know!

i'm totally cool with them being elf buddies, plus cyrlan isn't really a stranger to tevinter mages (though cani may be the what, second, third one? that hasn't tried to lop his head off before speaking). i can totally see that scenario happening, what's with the tensions running so high and all. cyr might help cani by virtue of him being an elf, and a mage at that, but he might also do it because he's not entirely too fond of orlesian merchants from what he knows.

and with their little thread going on right now, depending on when the above takes place, cyr will 100% step in to help a past ally, because he really likes to think that pretty much everyone is a friend if he tries hard enough. not too sure how cyr will react to the blood mage part - he used to be much more sensitive to what others used due to a stronger fade connection courtesy of coryphything's mystery magic, but now he's like. meh. probably won't tell until it's more in-his-face, so cani is safe till then. thereafter, there won't be an outburst but you will have an extremely curious elf.
