Emprise du Lion is a snow-covered area formerly occupied by elves. Several ancient elven ruins including a large keep and coliseums are located in the area. The hot springs in the Emprise have attracted dragons in recent years.

Halamshiral was built by the elves at the end of The Long Walk in the Ancient Age just off the Imperial Highway so that elves from all corners of the world could find it easily by simply following the Highway. The city was under elven control for nearly 400 years. However, during the Exalted March against the Dales the city was conquered by Orlais.

The Dales are an ancient elven burial ground that has been partly occupied by Orlesians in more recent times. They were formerly known as the Emerald March when the Dales were still an independent nation and are referred to as the Greatwood by the local Orlesian nobility.

The Dales
The Dales are the area of southeastern Orlais to the west of Ferelden. From -170 Ancient to 2:20 Glory—a period of nearly three centuries—they were the homeland of the elves of Thedas. However, the Exalted March of the Dales lead to the Orlesian occupation of the lands that still persists today.
